BBQ Potato Skewers

Who needs boring potatoes at a BBQ when you have these! Simple to make, and a massive 'fun' appeal to the kids these will be a big hit at your next BBQ. I would highly recommend you get the kids involved in the kitchen making these, they are bound to love it.

Serves: As many as you want!

Prep: 20 Mins (15 mins steaming)

Cooking Time: Approximately 15 Mins

Ready In: 35 Mins

  • New Potatoes, roughly 2-3 per person depending on size
  • Shallots, about 2 per person
  • Oil for brushing
  • Optional: Sprig of rosemary for brushing
  1. Scrub your potatoes and cut to an equal size that will fit nicely on a skewer. Steam the potatoes in advance- this takes about 15 minutes in my steamer, but please check yours, they may need more or less time.
  2. When you are ready to BBQ, thread your potatoes onto some skewers alternating potatoes and shallots. Depending on the size of your shallots, you may also need to cut these down to a similar size as the potatoes.
  3. Pop the potatoes on the BBQ and brush lightly with some oil. We use a sprig of rosemary to brush them for extra flavour, but this is not necessary if you don't have it. Serve when heated through, the skin is turning a bit crisp, and the shallots have gone soft and jammy.

Additional Information

Whilst the kids will love these, please be aware that circular foods can be a choking risk, so if you do take them off the sticks, make sure you chop them age appropriately.
